Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum. 10 South Access Road, Walthamstow, London E17 8AX.

The museum is housed in a historic pump house built in 1885. It is operated by a non-profit company, staffed with volunteers. As well as maintaining the pump house building and its Marshall C type engine, the museum houses hundreds of historical engineering exhibits including reciprocating steam engines, pumps, fire-fighting equipment, local transport, and local manufacturing.

The collections have been assembled by enthusiasts rather than professionals and this creates a treasure trove which is a truly characterful tribute to the industrial heritage of Walthamstow - one of east London’s major manufacturing centres in the 19th century.

The museum is open every Sunday from 11am to 3pm. Entry is free.
